Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!

As I reflect on the significance of this day, I wonder if we’re truly free. I don’t believe this is what our founding fathers envisioned when they wrote the declaration of independence.  As wrong as they were about things like slavery (even though God had a purpose in that. Read the story about Joseph (Jacob’s son) in the Bible to understand God’s purpose for the African American in slavery) They were right in making God the foundation.

Two weeks ago, our Supreme court sent down rulings that left a lot to be desired. They unraveled laws designed to protect black people (Partly because we got free and became too comfortable to keep fighting for our rights) and struck down DOMA. What happened to life, liberty and justice for all? We can’t even pass laws that prohibit the use of assault rifles and limit the ability of people who have mental disorders and criminals to access guns so we can protect the innocent and keep what happened at places like Sandy Hook Elementary from happening again. Where are our priorities? Instead we’re hailing the ruling against DOMA.  Rachel Maddow even made a comment that basically says “Gay people exist so deal with it”. By the way, my response to that is this; “Murderers, Liars, kleptomaniacs (thieves),child molesters and the like all exist and they all believe they were born the way they are but I don’t see us passing laws allowing them to practice what they claim to be.”  The way things are going though that may be next because if they can amass a certain amount of  wealth then they too can sway congress or the supreme court and say they also have the right to be the way they are. What do we do then? God help us.

For the record, I don’t hate gay people and I’m certainly not advocating violence against them. I personally believe it’s learned behavior and absolutely not God’s original intent when He created mankind. He created us Male and Female for a reason but the devil has tricked a few people into believing that what He originally intended isn’t good enough and people are too blind to see what’s really happening and they’re buying it hook, line and sinker.  Hosea 4:6  King James Version (KJV) says: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”  May God help their eyes to be open to the lie of the devil so they can truly be free.

The point I’m trying to make here is we’re focusing too much on things that are irrelevant instead of things that really matter. We need to redirect our priorities; just because you have the right to do something doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. Like it or not, The United States of America was founded on Christian principles and that’s the reason this nation is as great as it is but we’ve slowly chipped away at the very foundation that made us great. I worry about a Godless America.

Psalm 33: 12-19 says:

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

the people He chose for His inheritance.

From heaven the Lord looks down

and sees all mankind;

from His dwelling place He watches

all who live on earth—

He who forms the hearts of all,

who considers everything they do.

No king is saved by the size of his army;

no warrior escapes by his great strength.

A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;

despite all its great strength it cannot save.

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him,

on those whose hope is in His unfailing love,

to deliver them from death

and keep them alive in famine.”

We need to get back to the basics and rebuild our foundation in God so our great nation doesn’t topple as a result of what the devil is doing!

Psalm 33:20-22

“We wait in hope for the Lord;

He is our help and our shield.

In Him our hearts rejoice,

for we trust in His holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,

even as we put our hope in You.”

SELAH!
