Happy Martin Luther King day! I’m grateful for the work Martin Luther King Junior did during the civil rights movement but I can’t help to think how far we still are from his dream. Sure it appears that we’re all equal but are we really equal? When someone still has prejudice against you. It’s more subtle than widespread these days. At least back then, you knew who was killing you, now it’s hard to tell and that in my opinion is worse. My solution to it? We must all be consciously aware that the mindset of the sixties still exists even though it’s not as open as it used to be. Our responsibility is to build our society from within and we’re only as strong as the weakest link and only as wealthy as the poorest person. We must also educate the new generation about the struggles of the past so that history doesn’t repeat itself. Move forward, we must but never ever forget the purpose of the dream!
