100 % natural silk bedding

As many of you know, I love silk bedding (sheets, duvets, pillows & pillow cases etc). I discovered silk bedding because I reacted to my cotton bed sheets, even the 1500 thread count. I’d wake up itching until a dermatologist suggested I try silk sheets.  I haven’t looked back since.

Silk is the strongest of all the natural fibers and it has a 75% stretch. It’s also soft and lightweight. It contains natural proteins and 18 essential amino acids that help reduce the signs of aging. Silk is breathable making it a natural temperature regulator. It keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It can also absorb more than twice it’s weight in water and helps whisk sweat away from you to keep you dry at all times.

Silk is hypoallergenic. It doesn’t attract dust mites or bed bugs because of an enzyme secreted by the silkworm in the process of secreting silk. It doesn’t produce static electricity which reduces hair breakage. The amino acids help reduce hair thinning. It also helps the hair retain it’s moisture balance.

The amino acids found in silk are also known to aid the Central Nervous system by evoking a sense of calm thus ensuring a peaceful & restful sleep. The product is also naturally fire retardant.

There are two types of silk bedding weaves that I’ve found that works well for me. Habotai and Charmeuse. Cotton bed sheets are normally measured in thread count. Silk bedding is measured in momme weight. The higher the momme weight, the thicker the fabric. Habotai silk is about 15 momme weight and I like this for everyday wear. Charmeuse silk is about 19-25 momme weight and I like it as well but they’re quite a bit more expensive so I don’t use my 25 momme weight charmeuse silk sheets as often as I do the habotai sheets. I’ve found that I also like the sand-washed silk better. It’s even softer for some reason. Both weaves can be sand-washed.

You already know how a silk dress feels against your skin so try them as linens on your bed. The benefits are phenomenal. When you buy, please make sure you buy 100% natural silk bed linens not silk blends. There is a difference and the benefits listed above refer to 100% natural silk.
