The danger of a reprobate mind

On June 26 2015 the Supreme court of the United States issued a ruling that legalized same sex marriage in all fifty states. As I bemoaned this to God in prayer, I was quickly reminded that 1) we’re certainly living in the last days and 2) most of the supporters and proponents of this ruling are operating with a reprobate mindset. Romans 1:20-32 tells us what a reprobate mind is and how people come to have a reprobate mind:

Romans 1:20-32New King James Version (NKJV)

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[a] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[b] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Verse 28 tells us that because they chose not to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased (reprobate)mind to do those things which are not fitting. The danger of a reprobate mind is that it does not retain God in it’s knowledge and because of this they think what they’re doing is right not even realizing they’re so far out in left field it isn’t funny. Essentially, they’re walking in deception. How sad is that? It makes you feel sorry for them rather than getting angry because they’re so deceived and don’t even realize it.

After the ruling a lot of people chanted that love won. Love didn’t win, deception did. You should realize that this is a direct attack on the institution of marriage created by God, the only institution on earth that Jesus used to describe His relationship with the church.

Take God aside for a moment, anyone who studied human anatomy on their way to a career in the medical field knows that the human body wasn’t designed for same sex relationships. It doesn’t take rocket science or a great revelation to see that the male and female bodies were designed to fit together perfectly so if one deviates from the original design isn’t it deception rather than love that caused them to do so?

God knew exactly what He was doing when He designed the male and female body the way He did. The first few chapters of Genesis tells us that God created them male and female, blessed them and told them to be fruitful and multiply. The first marriage is depicted here. He even made sure that the only way a human life comes into existence is by participation from both the male and female body. It can’t happen any other way no matter what the new definition of marriage by man is. Man’s law will never supersede God’s law. God made sure of that.

I have to admit I was bothered by how many people who support this profess to be Christians. I call this the great deception. The devil doesn’t have any new tactics when it comes to leading people astray. The same questioning doubt he used to deceive Eve is what he’s using today. Back then he asked Eve if God really said not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. Today he’s asking if God has really said that marriage is only between a man and a woman.

Galatians 6:7King James Version (KJV)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

There will be a day of reckoning and my prayer is that on that day, many would’ve repented so their fate isn’t sealed unto destruction because they chose to stand against God. As a matter of fact I honestly believe that God hasn’t acted because Jesus is at His right hand making intercession on behalf of the saints who are earnestly praying for God to have mercy on us as a nation.

Bearing this in mind, to those who profess Christ I say make your election sure. Be fervent in your walk with God and not lukewarm. Study the word of God for yourself so you’re not deceived by the devil. Be the church. Light shines brighter in darkness. Tell people the truth of God’s word, love them and let God do the rest.

To those who practice homosexuality & same sex relationships I say, God loves you but He hates the sin of homosexuality much in the same way He hates the sin of idolatry, adultery, murder and the like. The Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Everyone struggles with something. Paul depicts this in the following scripture.

Romans 7:15-25New King James Version (NKJV)

15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

My personal struggle isn’t same sex attraction. I like to eat but just because I desire to eat a whole chocolate cake doesn’t mean I should or that it’s the right thing to do. Consider the next scripture.

Romans 12:1-5King James Version (KJV)

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Bible in the above scripture says we’re to present ourselves a living sacrifice unto God. Doing something different from what your flesh wants is a sacrifice. Daily we’re to do this and renewing our mind in the word of God helps us not be conformed to this world. It also helps us retain God in our knowledge so we’re not given over to a reprobate (debased mind).

If you truly want to be free from homosexual desires, God’s grace and strength is available to you. I pray the true love of God permeates your heart and mind and open your eyes to see the lies and deception you’ve bought into.

I will continue to pray for America. Contrary to what some have said, I do believe that this nation was founded on Christian principles and make no mistake, that’s the only reason this nation is great. Even though the founding fathers were wrong about things like slavery, God still had a purpose in it. Go and read the story of Joseph, Jacob’s son in the Bible. His brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt but God raised him up to leadership so he could preserve the very lives of those who sold him during the time of famine. Sometimes the way God does things is befuddling to the natural human mind.

2 Chronicles 7:14New International Version (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Our land is in desperate need of healing. May we heed to the scripture above, turn from our wicked ways and seek God again so He can have mercy on us.

Psalm 33:12-22King James Version (KJV)

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13 The Lord looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men.

14 From the place of his habitation he looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashions their hearts alike; he considers all their works.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

SELAH!
